We live in perilous times. The fate of this nation is hanging in the balance. We are coming unglued as a people, separating left and right - and at a breakneck pace.
Flip through the pages of history and you will see that we have been here before. Whenever a population reaches the point where civil conversation no longer suffices; violence, persecution, and even war are always the result.
Every.single.time. And always to the stunned amazement of those who are living through it.
Folks watched in astonishment as southern states seceded from the Union just prior to the Civil War - both sides shaking their heads in utter disbelief that such a thing could ever happen in their lifetimes. Four years and 650,000 deaths later, they certainly believed.
In 1917 one of the oldest monarchy's in Europe seemed oblivious to the fervor raging on the left in their land - a swell of madness that would coalesce into the infamous "Red October" of 1918. But it did - and at the cost of the royal family and millions of lives.
That very same swell of madness is raging on our left (in America) today. These deluded souls are not interested in hearing reason, and they are not interested in hearing truth. They shout down all who dare oppose them, while defining oppression (in their twisted minds) as anyone who dare disagree with their socialistic policies. With the exception of a few reasonable outlets, the entire media apparatus is at their disposal. Their agendas include infanticide, abortion, sexual deviancy of many stripes, and a visceral hatred of Christians.
We now live in a country that we could not have imagined ten years ago. A nation that has seen its constitution routinely ignored by the lawmakers entrusted with it's care. And now we are seeing (in broad daylight) the lynching of a fine and principled man - just because he has the audacity to be a Christian and a conservative.
We apparently live in a nation where any man can have his life instantly ruined by the waggle of an accusatory finger, proof be damned. We are somehow suddenly "guilty until proven innocent" - so long as the accusers can scream louder than the accused and are funded by elites who fill our halls and line our streets with wicked malcontents. Do we not hear in their shrill voices the words of Jezebel framing poor Naboth so that Ahab can have his vineyard?
If you're the parent of a little boy, hold him tight and pray for your nation. Understand that if this supreme court situation ends unjustly, it will set the logical precedent that must surely follow. Under that horrific paradigm, any woman will be able to ruin your son's life (in an instant) and without a shred of evidence. It will only begin there - and in the end, nobody will be safe.
The next two days are going to be huge. Historic. We must pray hard for our nation and for those currently seated in positions of power. And we must not sit on our hands next month when it is time to vote - and thereby allow the reversal of all the good that we've seen accomplished these last couple years.
The people of God must remain engaged. Those who suggest that the church has no business participating in civil (and political) discourse should have their heads examined. Now is the time to stand up and be heard, or risk losing it all.
